With such little information any guess is just that... but mine is that the description of the stone as just "dark crystalline" means it is is not anything fancy, such as specular hematite or obsidian. Probably just a dark volcanic basalt or basaltic gneiss river pebble that could be naturally heart shaped or slightly re ground to that shape. I saw many such river pebbles down the usumacinta recently.
