Bob Hall wrote some interesting things about Nadir, but if it was not a thing that could be clearly identified,is it a modern astronomer's concept?

As for the Sun Dogs, the first time I saw the Sun Dog element was in a photo from the Antarctica. . . . hence cold ice crystals in the sky create Sun Dogs. It was the best non-technical explanation I have seen or read for Sun Dogs.

However, I know it is cold in Mexico City at times, but, even with the snow capped mountains nearby, it is possible to see Sun Dogs in the Altiplano Central? Or even in the jungle area of the Yucatan? And to stretch a point, in the deserts of Australia where sky serpents were seen as rainbow serpents. The "venus" glyphs appear to have four outer units when whole, and only two when halved, while the Nuttall definitely shows star forms with four smaller circles (stars?) attached: Sun Dogs?

Is it necessary to combine two areas, one hot, and and one cold and meld them into one to explains a common occurrence in the cold area as a possibility in the jungle heat? Are we missing a translation somewhere? A detail that cannot be proven because it no longer exists? Or, to be even more obtuse, can one really "see" a black comet in the night sky?
I believe that a black comet can be seen in the night skies, as long as the moon and/or the stars are in its direct path, but a cold phenomenon in a hot area, is a bit questionable, unless the ice accompanies the "sun" .for some reason at the proper 22.5 height.
