The old god who is designated as God D in the codices appears in the
Dresden New Year pages in the context that Landa indicated was
associated with the creator grandfather Itzamnaaj. Consequently God D
has been identified as Itzamnaaj. In the Popol Vuh, the deity who is
parallel to Itzamnaaj is the creator grandfather Xpiyacoc. The deity Hun
Hunahpu of the Popol Vuh is the first born son of Xpiyacoc and his wife
Xmucane. Karl Taube demonstrated that Hun Hunahpu is parallel to the
Classic Period corn god whose hieroglyphic name Dave Stuart has
demonstrated reads One Ixim. We assume, therefore, that One Ixim is the
son of Itzamnaaj.
The hero twins are the sons of One Ixim/Hun Hunahpu, and the grandsons
of Itzamnaaj.
K732 illustrate the hero twins with their paternal grandfather
Itzamnaaj. However, the first deity to the right of Itzamnaaj on K1185
has the characteristics of One Ixim not his son One Ajaw.
