[Aztlan] Sun dogs in the Mayab

Folks,

With all due respect, I would differ from the comments made by Dea Urquidi.

Sun dogs ("correctly" called parheions) are only dependent on 
sunlight passing through a bank of high (cirrus or alto cirrus) 
clouds.  These usually presage the coming of changes in the weather 
as different pressure/temperature/moisture fronts move into an area. 
Since the Mayab does have changes in the weather, then the chances of 
seeing Sun dogs are as good in the Mayab as anywhere else in the 
world's atmosphere.

So, yes, both the Maya and Aztec/Mexica almost certainly saw Sun dogs 
from time to time and most probably recorded them on auspicious 
occasions, thus their "presence" in the several remaining codices.
