I just got word that a long-awaited book by Costa Rican archaeologist Ifigenia Quintanilla (University of Barcelona) is now in print:
 
Esferas Precolombinas de Costa Rica/Precolumbian Spheres of Costa Rica, San José: Fundación Museos del Banco Central de Costa Rica & Holcim.
 
This is a well-illustrated, bilingual edition that will be distributed by the Gold Museum in San José.  The book is the result of over 15 years of research and is the definitive publication on these intriguing monuments.
 
I do not yet know if it can be ordered online.
