However, I must say that my work with remote sensing
still requires me to put on my hiking boots, get on a
mountain bike, and ground-truth the satellite imagery.
 The days of "khaki-clad" dirt archaeologists is not
dead (as the article implies).  We just use better
maps before heading out.

Any remote sensing specialist will tell you that the
key is ground-truthing the data.  Machetes are still
the best tool (but GPS units are quickly coming in
second).
