[Aztlan] No Apocalypse Maya in 2012

Geoff and others

That was exactly my point. It gives a better perspective of the actual date
of the Izapa vertical sun transit relative to the start of the Long Count.
Namely, the Long Count's first day starts at sunset 4d prior to the Izapa
vertical sun transit, where the transit ends at day's end at sunset on
(0.0.0.0.3) or ends at day's start at that same sunset on (0.0.0.0.4) a
moment later. Assuming of course that (0.0.0.0.0) constitutes the first day
of the next cycle rather than the last day of the previous cycle.

Of course (0.0.0.0.0) is synonymous with (13.0.0.0.0) - being equivalent for
arithmetical purposes.

Applying the Herschel Correction or some equivalent correction (I prefer
dropping a leap day every 3,200y) gives a Long Count start on Aug 9, -3113
CE rather than Aug 11th basis the '83-GMT, and hence must start 4d prior to
the Izapa vertical sun transit. For the '85-GMT the Long Count starts 2d
prior to that vertical sun transit.

Cheers Cliff
