Listeros,
I am delighted to learn that responsible scholars have taken the
Mesoamerican entries on Wikipedia under their wing. In the past, I have
had to warn students away from it because of the mistakes I found in
almost every Mesoamerican entry. I remain concerned about the basic
proposition that almost anyone who considers themselves an expert can
push their own theories or modify existing entries to suit their own
taste. I really do believe in the value of experts to the sum of human
knowledge. However, the procedures outlined in the recent Aztlan posts
have allayed most of those fears. Good job, everyone concerned. Getting
accurate information out to the world in general, not only scholars,
should be a top priority for all of us.
