Not knowing the volume or water flow rate of Chichen's cenote, along with its underground connection to other centoes, I just can't phantom a people willingly polluting their own fresh water supply with mammal carcasses. I can understand enemies of a people doing this as a sure way to enforce abandonment. Morris
