Listeros,

Mexican versions of press story mentioned excavations in 1971 and
1973, but not work done by Rene Millon in 1978 as part of Teotihuacan
Mapping Project, done with INAH permission and supervision, and
reference to that work has been published.

The 1971 and 1973 excavations were discussed by Doris Heyden in "An
Interpretation of the Cave underneath the Pyramid of the Sun in
Teotihuacan, Mexico" in American Antiquity, Vol. 40, No. 2 (Apr.,
1975), pp. 131-147. First page and abstract readable at
http://www.jstor.org/pss/279609

In Chapter 1, The Teotihuacan Trinity: The Sociopolitical Structure
of an Ancient Mesoamerican City, by Annabeth Headrick, Univ. of Texas
Press, 2007,
http://www.utexas.edu/utpress/excerpts/exheateo.html
mention is made that the cave had been looted in ancient times so
little was left behind, citing "(Heyden 1981:3; R. Millon 1981:234,
1992:385, 1993:22)".

Saludos,
