Hola Listeros,
Perhaps I can clarify the situation concerning the Sun Pyramid, perhaps I will just muddy it even more, but here goes!
1. Several tunnels have been excavated into the body of the pyramid over the past 90 years. A good source on them can be found in a publication by Rene Millon, Bruce Drewitt, and James Bennyhoff, published by the American Philosophical Society. I am on the road and so do not have access to the precise citation but it appeared sometime in the 1960s.
2. The cave/tunnel or whatever it is that is being dug by Alejandro is the one found about thirty years ago. It was excavated by Jorge R. Acosta who failed to write up anything before he died. Doris Heyden's famous American Antiquity article is a basic source on it. It was also re-examined by Rene Millon and the Teotihuacan Mapping Project in the 1980s(?), he has discussed his investigations in a passing fashion in several essays in the past 20 years.
3. There are at least one, perhaps several ,underground caverns that appear to be artificial (perhaps sources of cascajo or building material) created by the Teotihuacanos and occupied by later people, behind or to the east of the Sun Pyramid. There were investigated by Linda Manzanilla back in the 1990s, I am not certain where she did her muon work and am not in a position to really track much of this until the end of the month. Hope this helps.
Saludos,
Dick Diehl
