[Aztlan] Andara Shell Mounds.

A bit closer to the West Coast shell mounds than Australia are the shell
mounds of the Crystal River Archaeological site in Florida. There are many
mounds, one quite tall and at one time there were burials exposed to the
public. Even today the banks of Crystal River are loaded with shell and one
can still find worked shell artifacts.
In the park there is a stone that is covered with a steel cage and it is
suggested that it is a Maya stela, but close examination of the lines on the
stone suggest that they are natures doing. An on site museum shows the
history of the site and some ceramics are also displayed.

Hi All,
I am fascinated by the recent discovery of this mound. Across
Northern Australia similar mounds have been discovered. They are a mystery
to Australian Archaeologist. After reading the article I was wondering
whether there is any possibility that the two might be linked.
