Although the Maya would have recognized various constellations or prominent stars, it is unlikely that they had the same names. Few of the Maya names have common usage; instead we have such names as the "venus" glyph, "star wars" etc. Our researchers, have identified, with the help of the natives, what we recognize as constellations and prominent stars, but usually, they are automatically translated into our designations for the readers.
