Not only the Maya were looking to the sky.

Also the Huichol-Indians from the State of Jalisco in Mexico have made a map
of the starry sky, on a stone disk (tepali). On one side of the disk the
Goddess of the 5th Heavendirection, tate velika uimali, the young female
Eagle is depicted.

On the other side of the disk the starry sky is depicted with red and green
spots, in different size. In the middle of the disk is the constellation of
Scorpio (tamatz tealuka). And in the middel of this constellation is a very
clear spot, as the hart (iyali) of the Scorpio. The whole constellation
indicates the direction of the disk, from West to East. At the end of the
tail, in the East, the Morningstar, tonoami, and right at the top, in the
West, a very clear star, rawa or rawami, is depicted, identified as the
Tatotsi Mara Kwari, the ancient Grandfather.

The constellation of Scorpio, the Morningstar and Rawa divide the disk in
two halves, the Northern and the Southern Part.

In the Northern Part are indicated the constellations of the Plejades
(semanir), beside it the Deer and the Dog. Under it a complicated picture of
a pregnant woman, nivele urte, the birth of the Arrow. Beside it the Cock
(wakana), the Spanish "carro", the Ursa Major. Under it a constellation in
the form of a broken line, identified with the Spanish "Arado".

In the Southern part of the disk are indicated the constellations of the
Beehive, the Kolibri, the Crawfish and the Raccoon.

A great star in the North and a big star Star in the South are indications
of the "Blue Grandfather" (tevali yoawi) and the "Southern Grandfather"
(tevali seliakami).

They were the true guards of the heaven.

Other names in the vocabular of P.J.Ortega of 1732 are: urcapuart="el carro"
Ursa Major, tzicuricat="las estrellas que llaman las tres Marias" Orion, and
neupacatzi="las estrellas que llaman ojos de Santa Lucia".
