Hi Katherine and Mario,

There is a brief notation and map on pages 330 and 331 from a paper that was
written by Harold E. Driver and William C. Massey that can be found on Jstor
called "Comparative Studies of North American Indians".  Keep in mind that
it was written in 1957.

While visiting the Alabama Moundville Archaeological Park last year 
http://moundville.ua.edu/ I noticed that they had a headboard in their 
museum that had been found on site.  I'd be interested in a couple of 
references to papers on North American headboards and how wide spread their 
use was.
