Hmmmmmm, European Solutrean, Acheulean, compared with Paleo Cultures of the Early Americas
Dr. Bruce Bradley (University of Exeter, Research Fellow Carnegie Museum of Natural History, Smithsonian, UT Texas Archaeological Resarch Lab) had proposed similar ideas about the migration of lithic technologies between the European Upper Paleolithic and Pre-Clovis America. Even got a line or two in National Geographic about his research a few years back. He spent three days in my museum collections (my so-called previous life...) reviewing artifacts from both sides of the Atlantic.
If you get the chance to look at these blades and the complex techniques for manufactuirng them you may come away with a different perspective. The similarity of the technology is uncanny. Granted the cleaving properties of chert/flint are restrictive to what you get when you shape the stone (you're not going to get gemstone facets...) but there are little hints that lead many to believe that these are definitely related technologies.
