[Aztlan] RATS?

Hi All!

I don't have a picture of what everybody is talking
about on here as far as "rats" go.  I was wondering if
the animal in question might not be a tlacuache
(oppossum).  They have hairless, rat-like tails.  I
saw plenty of them in Palenque when I worked there
years ago.

Are rats even native to Mesoamerica?  That's something
I should probably know after "only" 10 years in grad
school and 27 as an archaeologist down here, but
unfortunately I am ignorant on the subject.

Anybody have a link to the picture so I can see it
(just out of curiosity).
