I have a desire to study the question of "Maya Standard Linear Unit of
Measure" and need help. To do this I seek from listeros:
1. Electronic sources and/or
2. Listeros who have knowledge and interest in the subject and would be
willing to help me off line.
3. I have and am now reading "An Ancient Maya Measurement System" by
Patricia J. O'Brien and Hanne D. Christiansen. If anyone has an email for
either please contact me off list.
Is the idea in searching for a Standard Linear Unit of Measure (SLUM)
collect a significant quantity of data, in the form of linear measurements
(say CMs) from structures, and then search for a greatest common factor. If
found (unlikely, except for 1cm) then the GCF is declared SLUM. If a GCF
(other than 1 cm) is not found does one then look for a GCF of a particular
large subset of the data.?
Thanks for any help in getting me started.
