Assistant Professor, tenure track. The Department of Art History at Florida State University announces two positions in its World Arts program. This program approaches the study of non-Western/World Arts as methodologically and historically central to the general discourses of art history. Interdisciplinary and critical approaches emphasizing comparative cultures are particularly desirable. Scholars who work on the art of one of the following areas are invited to apply: African and African diaspora; Islamic; South Asian or South-East Asian; Pre-Columbian; Colonial or Modern Latin American; or Native North American. Teaching responsibilities (2 courses/semester) include advanced undergraduate and graduate courses as well as supervision of master’s and doctoral students. Candidates should have a Ph.D. in Art History or a related field at time of appointment, teaching experience, and a promising record of research and scholarship. Appointment begins in
August 2009.
