[Aztlan] whirlpool question

  It would seem a really good idea if we could
  pin-point the original source of this information on
  the sacrifice and offerings at whirlpools.
   
  In a recent class lecture on the Olmec we reviewed
  the findings at El Manati (near San Lorenzo), made
  by Ponciano Ortiz and his team, where some of the
  more unusual findings were rubber balls, wooden
  busts,and skeletal remains of children.  Some
  authors have used the Aztec sacrifice of children in
  a whirlpool as a possible analogy for the findings
  of children's remains in the springs of El Manati.
  --Sounds logical but where did the original info for
  this analogy come from? I'm curious.
