Duran may have been a source for Horcasitas and Heyden, but
Sahagun one of the main sources for Duran.

Duran was only 24-32 when Sahagun was busy with the
details. Duran may have gone to Pantitlan and saw the
weather change suddenly, but the description of past
festivals was in Sahagun.

Diego Durán (c. 1537–1588)

Durán joined the Dominican Order in 1556,(He was 19 yrs old at the time and 24 yrs old when Sahagun began his manuscript of the Florentine) and spent his life chronicling the religion and customs of local people, in order to eventually convert them to Catholicism. He spent many years talking to native informants and studying manuscripts, including the history of the Aztecs called Cronica X.

Bernardino de Sahagún (1499 – October 23, 1590
In 1561 he moved his base to Tlatelolco where he gathered a similar group of highborn and aged Nahuas to serve as his informants. In the next eight years he completed the twelve books of the Historia general de las cosas de Nueva España, an unparalleled work in Náhuatl which was completed in 1569.
