Listeros,
Just a small note of clarification regarding the discovery of Ichkabal:
while the local population probably have always known about the
enormous mounds, the first "outside persons" to report the site were
INAH archaeologists Luz Evelia Campaña and Javier López Camacho in
1995. They were the ones who gave the site the name by which it is
currently known and who also conducted extensive surface work,
including mapping. Unfortunately, they were not able to do any further
work due to lack of funding.
I consider it important to always give credit where credit is due.
