Anyone interested should, in addition to those recommended by Mike Smith, should also read through Eulalia Guzman's commentaries in her edition of Cortés letters. Anyone who subscribes to the Aztlan lists will be able to sort through her frequently idiosyncratic interpretations, but her summary of information relating to when and how Moctezuma died is nonetheless rather brilliantly developed, and useful.
