[Aztlan] A Question on who discovered the date of the inauguration of the Long Count

Dear Listeros,

I would very much like to know who was the first Maya scholar or researcher to have rediscovered the 4 Ajaw 8 Kumk'u 
  date of the inauguration of the Long Count. One of the earliest I know of was E. Forstemann in his work with the Dresden Codex, although I must confess I do not know the earliest publication of when he calculated this date.

Have you any ideas?
