Dear group,
Long after my first mail concerning a possibly archaeological wooden mask from Mexico we received the color analysis results. As we were not able to interpret these ourselves we had to wait for further descriptions. The red colour is definitely a mineral color, possible hematite.
A C14 analsis is now going to follow in September, so that in November latest we will know whether or not the mask is old.
Has anybody seen the Teotihuacan mask mentioned in Berrin and Pasztory, 1993 (Teotihuacán: Art from the city of the gods) and could eventualy provide me with the given information and image (cat.no. 38, ill.page 84) of it?
Looking forward to any comments.
Thanks and best regards,
