[Aztlan] Original Mayan Location

Greetings,

Is there someone in this group who can tell me where the original Mayan's were first located? Was it somewhere in what is now Guatemala? This was a long time before the human sacrifices began. I assume that the human sacrifices began when the drought started. Where would I research this? Any help is greatly appreciated.
