[Aztlan] Mass grave of Aztec warriors uncovered

Archaeologists, digging into a pyramid in Mexico City have found a  
mass grave of what may be Aztec holdouts against Hernan Cortes. 49  
skeletons have been recovered from Tlatelolco. All were young men,  
most were tall, and many had mended broken bones. They were buried  
Christian style with arms crossed over chests but an Aztec like ritual  
took place with offerings of incense and animals along with Spanish  
elements such as a bit of glass and buttons.

This is unusual since the Aztecs would have cremated their dead and  
the Spanish would not usually take such great care in burying Aztecs.  
Perhaps they were disease victims or later rebels held for a long time  
before being killed.
