[Aztlan] En grave peligro el Friso de estuco de Ek'Balam -- Ek'Balam stucco frieze in grave danger

Not only Ek' Balam is forgotten. Practically all substancial activities
(protection, conservation, research and diffusion of cultural heritage) of
the Centro INAH Yucatan have been paralyzed since 2006, when Federica Sodi
arrived to Merida to head this institution. Lack of funds for keeping this
cultural hertage's integrity have always been a problem in Mexico and
particularly in Yucatan, pricipally because financial resourses distribution
is decided by non-specialist accountants at their comfortable offices at
INAH in Mexico City. Situation got worst when such incompetent authorities
begun their administration in Yucatan, resulting in hundreds of
archaeological and historical sites that have been damaged or destroyed.
After Sodi's renouncement everything remains the same because she left David
Aceves incharged of this office, who mantains the same kind of politics: All
the money (if there's something left) goes to Chichen Itza and Uxmal,
leaving more than 2400 sites on their own. More information at:
