Dear Martin,

I don't know if others have come back to you to offer help. I hope so.
Meanwhile, here are a couple of extra tips:-

If you send us a picture we can seek some expert advice on it from Chloe
Sayer, author, curator and world expert on Mexican crafts of all kinds.
Chloe is on our Panel of Experts on the Aztecs.

We have a small photo gallery of Mexican masks, ancient and modern, that you
can see here -

http://www.mexicolore.co.uk/index.php?one=azt&two=aaa&id=164&typ=reg

There is also an online gallery of Mexican masks at the Phoebe A. Hearst
Museum of Anthropology, here -

http://hearstmuseum.berkeley.edu/exhibitions/mexico2/masks.html

And the classic book you could search for/consult is 'Mexican Masks' by
Donald Cordry, which is beautifully illustrated and documents the
mask-making tradition in Mexico from pre-Hispanic times to the 20th century.

All the best,

Ian
