[Aztlan] Oldest work of art in North America found?

While the bone may be 13,000 years old, there is still the question of the engraving on it being that old. Prof. Barbara Purdy said in the interview that they ran "tests that showed that the three-inch-long image wasn’t recently made." Is anyone familiar with the precise nature of those tests?
I'm not doubting the veracity of the discovery. I'm curious about the techniques (including the "subjective factors"?) for determining the age of the engraving.
And we must realistically state that this may be the oldest EXISTING work of art in North America. The body art that came across with (on) the first peoples was the first American art, almost certainly.
