Dear Friends,

I have just posted K9150 in Portfolio; a small Nayarit couple with their
arms entwined. It used to be suggested that the figure was merely a
representation of an amorous couple.

However, is it possible that this is a Western Mexican version of the more
detailed figures such as 1926, 2881, or 5780 also in Portfolio. The jaina
figures are generally recognized as God L and one of his consorts but the
Nayarit figures never have recognition as deities. Why? Is there a
possibility that there is also a connection to the scenes of the snakelady
with her consort? (keyword snakelady in the Maya vase database.)

What do you think?
