Fascinating, especially the one hand with 5 digits, the other with 4
(which, as cartoonists constantly rediscover, looks way better in such
an art-form.) I would venture to guess that the 5-digit hand was drawn
first, then someone said "Hey, now try it with only 4"....

Which brings up the question of where these were viewed from? Not an
airplane, obviously. Certainly not an airplane from whatever altitude
looking straight down! Are there any photos of how these look from the
desert floor, or from any slight elevation suited for viewing? Perhaps
even a temporary tower constructed for the purpose. Or a low-flying
plane coming upon them rather than from straight overhead? I'm reminded of
the fabulous recent sidewalk art which, when viewed from a certain
vantage point on the sidewalk presents a stunning 3-dimensional image.
See <http://users.skynet.be/J.Beever/pave.htm>.

I tried in a photo-editor to change the perspective of this photo, but
I don't really know what I'm doing. Perhaps it will inspire someone
who does! <http://harvestview.com/tdy/peru2.jpg>

cheers,
scott.
