My comment:
The language written at Copán during the Classic
Period was a precursor to Chorti. It is called
Cholan by linguists and split into several
languages Cholti, Chorti, Chol and Chontal
after that period. Yucatec (Yukatek) was never
written at Copán during that time. (Of course
some others might disagree but I have seen no
compelling evidence that this is not the case and
have found much indicating that it is.)
