I attended a lecture by Johnathan Reyman at UIUC.  He's an anthropologist / archaeologist
who has developed this wonderful network to both assist U.S. Native American cultures
preserve their traditions, and help curb illegal poaching / smuggling of macaws.

Check it out (there's some interesting archaeological data in there as well, including
the sexing of macaw skeletons from archaeological contexts).
