Hi, Karen!

Is that dissertation available online? If so, can you or Mr. Green give us
the link?

Since I've got that nice watercolor depicting God L, I would be very
interested in having a copy.

Also, since that particular image is from the Temple of the Cross, can you
or anyone else explain (or tell me where I might find) an explanation of the
iconography of the Temple that would explain why God L is included?

Hal Green just told me about a dissertation on God L that I was not 
aware of (Michele Bernatz, The Concept of Divinity in Maya Art: Defining 
God L, U of Texas 2006).  She explores the role of God L's cigar as a 
fire keeper and the role of tobacco in keeping away poisonous snakes and 
spirits while traveling.
