A few months back, someone sent out a question on Aztlan, asking how
the Honduran coup would impact Honduran archaeology.
Here are some links from several Internet blogs about the firing of
Dario Euraque last month who was the Director of IHAH, the Honduran
Institute of Anthropology and History:
"The Board of Directors of the Institute of Anthroplogy and History
voted to issue dismissal notice to Darío Euraque. The Board met in
secret on Sept 1, without the legally required presence of
representatives of the National University. They nevertheless voted to
dismiss him. The vote was 6 out of 10 in favor of dismissal; all those
6 votes were by board members appointed by the illegitimate coup
government.,," For more: http://quotha.net/node/276
