I want to thank everyone that took the time to reply to me personally or through the list. I was very surprised by how many responses I got and I really appreciate it very much!

BTW the painter's house I was talking about is Jose Luis Cuevas, who is not as well known as Diego Rivera and more contemporary. And who knows what my friend saw, after reading some of the responses I realize there is a possibility they could have been fakes or andean.
