[Aztlan] Hunabku

Dear Aztlaners

Reading about Mesoamerican religion I have stumbled on references to
Hunabkú, a maya God (supposedly the supreme one) documented primarily in the
Chilam Balam de Chumayel and in the dictionary of Motul, who has apparently
been appropriated by New Agers. In the only serious references to this god
it is commented that "this god seems to have been invented by monks in order
to further the conversion of the mayas to monotheistic christianity". My
question is are there any published papers presenting this argument?
