Listeros,
INAH has posted more information on the circular Ehecatl Quetzalcoatl temple uncovered behind the National Cathedral in Mexico City. The temple had two stages of construction and the last stage was built between 1486-1502. It was built facing the Tlaloc shrine to indicate the coming of the rain, with the Tlaloc temple representing the storm. The temple would have had a coned shaped thatch roof. The Spanish conquerors described this temple in their reports and said it was decorated by a figure of Quetzalcoatl.
So far, inside the temple, they have found pieces of a sculpture of Miquixtli, the Aztec goddess of death, and pieces of carved jade representing Tlaltecuhtli, Aztec underworld god, with a four directions of the universe glyph (quincunx). There are fragments of a barrel cactus ceramic and a sandal foot sculpture. Red Texcoco pottery, incense burners and plates have been uncovered. More will be found as they continue to excavate.
INAH has the report here (in Spanish) with a photo
