The questions about Mayan languages call for extensive answers. Best to Google "Mayan Languages" and follow up on a few of the sites.  The Wikipedia article is pretty good; there is also an Encyclopedia Britannica article, etc. Also consult SIL.org for their listing of languages, the Ethnologue. Given that there a couple of dozen languages and their situations are quite distinct, there is no simple answer to this inquiry.Nick Hopkins
