Lloyd Anderson, in his "Six or more Long Count digits" email, mentioned
Thompson's "Maya Hieroglyphic Writing"(1960, 1971).  I now add that yes, the
section on calculations into the far past (pp. 314-316) does exist in the
first (1950) edition.  Anyone has access to the first edition.  It is on the
