Classic Maya Seaports: Uaymil, North Campeche Coast

Shell

A total of 30 pieces of shell, 23 whole and 7 fragments, were found during the surface survey and mapping of Uaymil. The sample of shell artifacts collected at Uaymil represents eleven marine species (Table 6). The 30 pieces of shell recovered include unworked pieces (N=13) of which 5 are fragments. We also identified 10 ornaments, 7 implements, and 1 semi-worked piece (Figures 13-14, Table 7).
