Textile-Clay Laminates:  A special-use material in ancient Mesoamerica

Acknowledgements

The primary equipment items, film and other documentation media for this research phase were contributed by the Smithsonian Center for Materials Research and Education, along with the gift of my time and the general resources of the laboratory and the Smithsonian Institution. A number of individuals provided valuable assistance with various logistical aspects of the research, and I would like to acknowledge in particular: Estela Pinto and Licda. Anaité Galeotti (Proyecto Arqueológico Laboratorio Aguateca); Sr. Edgar Ortega and Gustavo Amara (DEMOPRE-IDAEH, Guatemala City); Sr. Miguel Ángel Orantes (IDAEH, Sayaxché, Petén); and Arq. Oscar Santos Corea, Lic. Erick Ponciano and Dr. Véronique Breuil-Martínez (PRAS, Aguateca). Numerous archaeologists have provided their insights during the initial phase of this research, many of whom were connected with site excavations that yielded laminate samples. I would like to thank several whose input was particularly helpful during the current phase: Licda. Mónica Urquizú Sánchez, Dr. James Brady, and especially Dr. Antonia Foias, Dr. Takeshi Inomata and Dr. Daniela Triadan.
