El tema de la transformación vuelve a aparecer en este relato de la creación de Eva y su caída del estado de gracia. Dios transforma un hueso en una mujer viva por medio de Su palabra. Un espíritu maligno del inframundo se transforma en una criatura con el rostro y el torso de una mujer, pero con el cuerpo de una serpiente. Por último, la transgresión transforma a Adán y Eva de los hijos inocentes de Dios, en exiliados avergonzados, yalan che yalan aban encogidos de miedo.
A pesar de la seriedad del tema, el autor hace que la historia se desenvuelva con una serie de discursos humorísticos. Dios habla con Adán, y sugiere que Adán le de nombre a los animales porque, "Si yo les doy sus nombres, tú los olvidarás". Una vez allí, se enrosca en la corteza del yax cheil cab y le ofrece a Eva la visión infinita hun xaman hun chikin, hacia todas las direcciones, si no hace caso del mandamiento de Dios y come el fruto del árbol. Eva discute con el tentador y con ella misma, pero el apetito prevalece sobre la razón, y cae (ms. págs. 209-10). Adán regresa y encuentra a Eva pálida y debilitada: ella lo persuade para que también coma del fruto, lo que él resuelve hacer aún cuando sabe que le quedará atravesado en la garganta (ms. pág. 212). Este detalle se transforma en la explicación para "la señal que ha pasado a estar en nuestras gargantas, nosotros que somos hombres," la manzana de Adán. Hacia el final de la narración, los primeros humanos se encogen de miedo ante la ira de Dios.
La división del relato en escenas, el diálogo humorístico, y el retrato del diablo como una serpiente con cabeza y manos humanas, capaz de hablar y de tomar el fruto, todo sugiere una fuente en una obra teatral de misterio. En las obras europeas de misterio del medioevo tardío, el diablo aparece con frecuencia como un personaje cómico; el "parlamento de los diablos" es un motivo común tanto en los cuentos populares como en el teatro.243 Sabemos que las obras de milagros, entre ellas "La caída de Adán y Eva" fueron representadas por los nativos de México bajo la dirección de sus evangelizadores.244 El autor tal vez describe dicha obra, inclusive proporcionando una especie de guión para su revalidación.
