Northeastern Yucatán Project:
Archaeological Survey in the Northeastern Corner of Yucatán, México
Site 12
This is a pre-hispanic settlement almost entirely covered by the undergrowth, as it lies at the edge of an abandoned road that once lead to the reforestation areas of the SEMARNAP. To physically locate it, one must take the road that leads to the archaeological sites of Sacboh, Site 9, Site 10 and Site 11, defined in this project. This road is an optional route to get to the abandoned town of Nuevo Tekal. The detour is to be found where the road splits, a place with a large ceiba tree, and then one must proceed southeast.
The settlement is at the edge of the road, and we were only able to see two platforms between 2 and 3 meters high, one at the north of the road, and the other at its south. On the other side, it is located at scarce two kilometers northeast of the larger Site number 18 (Nuevo Tekal).
