General Research Grants

General Research Grants support a wide variety of projects whose financial needs range from $500 but do not exceed $10,000. These grants are payable in US dollars, made available in up to three installments. Dates of installments vary according to the project’s specific circumstances but initial disbursements occur within ninety (90) days from the date of an applicant’s approval by the Board of Directors.

Contingency Grants

One of the Foundation’s goals is to provide emergency funds for unforeseen situations encountered during initial research, secondary analysis, and/or the final dissemination of findings. Contingency Grants are for unspecified amounts to be determined by the FAMSI Board of Directors according to the applicant’s specific needs and circumstances. Contingency Grants are awarded when funds are available. Because of the emergency nature of Contingency Grants, applications are accepted at any time.

PLEASE NOTE:

The Foundation does not deduct income tax from any grants, which may be taxable in the hands of the recipient. The Foundation Grants described herein adhere to the Internal Revenue Services Publication #578 which provides that grants must be awarded on an objective and nondiscriminatory basis, and to Civil Rights Acts providing that no person may, on the grounds of race, sex color, or national origin, be excluded from participating in, be denied benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under programs of Private Foundations.
