En este pasaje que viene a continuación del Xot Kin, el autor comienza haciendo repetidas referencias a un libro del cual está resumiendo información sobre los tipos de conocimiento disponibles para el género humano. Contrasta la sabiduría divina, que describe diciendo que tiene un dulce olor y sabor, con el conocimiento vano y tonto de las cosas mundanales. Mientras que la primera parte de la discusión refleja las creencias europeas y cita a los padres de la Iglesia en su calidad de autoridades, en la última parte se sirve de imaginería más conocida para una audiencia maya. Aquí, los sabios seculares aparecen como búhos, aves de mal agüero, como estorninos que contonean sus cabezas en el aire, o como sapos hinchados y venenosos.
